CADAQUES - Dali's house by the sea

Cadaques is a little more difficult to reach from Girona but still doable by public transport.

The fastest option is to catch the train to Figueres and then a bus onto Cadaques. The bus from Figueres to Cadaques takes around 1 hour and runs three to six times a day.

Cadaques

Cadaques is a beautiful seaside town that is well worth a few hours, but the primary reason most visitors come to Cadaques is to visit the house that Dali spent much of his live in, just a short walk away in the tiny village of Port Lligat. The home that he lived in or over 40 years is now the Salvador Dali House Museum, and tickets need to be purchased at least a few weeks in advance as it has limited capacity - entrance slots are every 10 minutes, with a maximum of 8 people at a time.

On the day tickets need to be collected at least 30 minutes before the scheduled entry time or they will be cancelled - so don't forget to allow for that and not start the walk too late!

IT WAS NOT JUST DALI WHO LOVED CADAQUES

Cadaques beauty and charm has drawn many other famous people in. Picasso, Einstein and Coco Chanel are among those that have loved spending time in Cadaques. With it's dramatic landscape and stunning scenery it is not hard to see why. Who doesn't enjoy a backdrop of whitewashed buildings, blue shutters and brightly coloured fishing boats in azure waters?

CADAQUES TO ROSES BY BUS

Roses, Spain

After visiting Dali's house and spending some time in Cadaques, you can either catch the bus back to Figueres or make another stop, in Roses another seaside town a short distance to the south.

The bus to Roses is the same one that goes back to Figueres, and the trip takes 30 minutes.

The population of Roses is about 10x that of Cadaques, so there are many more shops, restaurants and bars than in Cadaques, and it is also totally different in architecture s
